It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out
Just a note about using my artwork Typically I don't mind, however I request that you always ask me first. Since the characters I draw are always mine or another persons OC from an RP I would like you to at least get my permission first. Most likely I'll say yes. There are exceptions of course, such as I make a character for a certain person's use only, and I'll mark that on the deviation page.
If you get permission, kindly link me to where you are using it, so I can see, and also credit me. I don't believe that artwork is meant to be locked behind glass for only one person to enjoy. If you like my work, I'd like to let you use my work. Just let me know. :)
Do you use references? No, unless otherwise stated. So keep in mind, that there are only so many drawings, poses, looks that can be done. The human imagination only goes so far. If by chance my work appears to resemble another's it is completely coincidental. If I ever do use a reference it will always be with permission or free domain and I will link it in my description.
What do you draw? I draw a variety of things, however I mostly focus on men. Particularly attractive men. I draw BL from PG - XXX (though only PG - PG-13 will ever be shown here). I love motion pictures; dancing, running, martial arts, that sort of thing. I love the motion of men's muscles in action, so I draw a great deal of that. I also draw women, but not as much, because women's proportions are difficult for me to understand even though I am a woman myself.
What Media do you use? I've started to pick up digital art again, though I haven't really gotten the hang of it yet. I'm best with Traditional Art, and mostly black and white, but all in all, I dabble in a little of everything. Depends on my mood.
Are you formally taught or self taught? I am self taught. I took a year of art school and I hated it. I felt chump, and like I was being forced into something. I ended up hating art for a long time after that, and stepped away from drawing for two years. I'm just now getting my desire back. Everything I learned about technique, I learned on my own from years and years of failures and successes. This is another reason my drawings my not necessarily appeal to others. I don't believe there is a set technique in making art, and I don't believe that a drawing is all about mastering technique. I believe art is meant to be fun, and I treat it as such. This may not be how others view it, but it is how I do. And so I'm not going to spend time talking about procedure, or what I do, because I do as I do as I do. This is also why my style is still developing.
How long have you been drawing? About fourteen years. Between the ages of 10 and 18 I drew every single day, and always more than one drawing. I intend to return to that now.
Anything else we should know? I am half blind, so my technique changes, and my drawing changes in order to compensate for my changing eyesight. So with time - nothing immediate - but in the future, be prepared to see some definite changes. But that is neither here nor there. Also I am always open to receiving constructive criticism. Do not just tell me that something is bad, or that you hate something. Tell me why, and tell me what I can do to make it better. I may or may not listen to your advice, but I love getting the opinions of those around me. Just don't ever tell me to go to art school to learn real art. Spare you and I both the pain of such an encounter.
To my watchers, I know there aren't many of you, but I do want to let you know that I'm slowly going to be retiring this account. If you're interested in seeing where I'm going to go from here, my new account is :iconTheibrin:
I think it's time that I do a Doodle Everyday Challenge, just so I can force myself back to drawing in a traditional medium, without any super high expectations.
